Club ride to Malmesbury

After a week of being off the bike (as the photoshoot on Friday didn’t count), it was great to get out this morning for the regular club ride. I was a bit worried on the Saturday that there would be too much ice on the ground, but in the end it was a glorious morning for it.

It was also a morning that reminded me why I prefer the dry, as we all ended up absolutely caked in mud, as you can see from the selfie on the left.

It was tougher going than it should have been on the way out, as first my mudguards and then my brakes were rubbing. After a coffee stop in Malmesbury and with both problems fixed, it was a steady ride back. I was tempted to try and do an extra loop to add some distance, but it was just getting too late.

It’s the last Sunday of the month next weekend, and so probably my last chance to get the 100km Strava Challenge complete for January. I genuinely don’t fancy riding that distance on my own, so will just have to hope the sub zero temperatures forecast for the next few days will have gone, and set the alarm early.
